Over a hundred university presidents recently signed a petition begging the federal government to consider lowering the drinking age to 18.

College administrators reportedly hope to decrease binge drinking and other high-risk behaviors associated with underage college alcohol use by seeking the legalization of what is already routine on and around their campuses. Many note that underage drinking is by nature secretive and thus isolates students from their guardians and higher authorities, such as police, while simultaneously rendering them more vulnerable as potential crime victims.

"It is simply unjust that college men – while they do suffer physical and sexual violence – are not subject to a 25% chance of rape or attempted rape while attending American universities, as are undergraduate women" elaborated FU President Allen Jones. "Frankly, we hope to close the gender gap before someone sues."

In response to the circulating petition, Mothers Against Drunk Driving poured a strong one.
